Just a little warning that I’m making a few changes to the layout of the site, so things may look a little screwy for a few minutes. Fear not, things will be working again soon. I hope!

I’ve finished with the layout (for now), hope everyone likes it. I wanted to make better use of the space at the top of the page.

One more thing before I forget, when I first got my new best friend I was having some problems with Safari, namely that every time I logged into a site after a minute or so it kicked me off and I had to log in again. A little investigation revealed that this is a problem affecting some, but not all iPhones, regardless of jailbreaking, and is to do with the way the cookie folder is set up. Now, for the technically minded among you there is a way to get into the folder and rename it yourself, but quite frankly I wasn’t touching that with a bargepole.
I did, however come across a neat little doohickey that does it all for you! Just add http://appledailytimes.com/installer as a source in installer, and up pops 1.1.4 Cookie Fix. once you’ve downloaded it it does it’s thing and then very kindly tells you that you can delete it. Takes 2 minutes and I haven’t had a problem since.
Unfortunately, Apple seem to be either unaware of this or just haven’t got around to doing anything about it yet, so those with pure as the driven snow iPhones can’t do diddly squat about it. But honestly, how many of those are there knocking about!?
So, as Oli has already told you, I finally caved in last week and got a shiny new 8GB Iphone of my very own after weeks of stealing his to play with! And I have to say, it was well worth it. After less than a week I’ve already no idea how I ever lived without it! Checking your email on a computer? Actually watching the news and weather? So last month! Although I do worry that now we’ve got one each we may stop talking to each other completely…
I’m still a little light on apps though (I do so love to fill things with crap), so if anyone knows of anything cool that might appeal please do let me know in the comments section.
Here’s the gist…
We’re after a nice webclip icon, so when people add the blog to their iPhone/iPod Touch springboards, they get something a little more recognisable than a simple screenshot.
I know some of you must be good with Photoshop and the likes, so I’m looking for a 60×60 pixel, 72dpi PNG image that reflects the content of the blog, ie. Apple, the iPhone etc.
We’ll select the one that we think does this the best, and that will be the icon that the everyone and their dogs will see on their iPhones.
The lucky winner will receive……absolutely nothing ! But you will have the knowledge that your icon will be viewed by millions (well, maybe not), which has got to be pretty cool !
To submit your effort, upload it to some nice free web hosting and send me the link using the contacts page. Nice and simple.
So, photoshop at the ready….. GO !
I‘ve taken the decision to remove the post rating system down, due to use being the victim of a spammer. I felt that rather than run the risk of new visitors seeing posts with 1-star votes, it would be best to remove the feature completely.

Dispite looking like someone out of Mary Poppins, this little old lady is causing quite a stir in the boardrooms of the high and mighty.
Retired Columbia University Professor, Gertrude Neumark Rothschild is suing the likes of Sony and Samsung over what she says are infringements over patents she holds for LEDs and other laser jiggery-pokery.
She’s already had Philips over a barrel and they settled out of court, so maybe she’s not making it all up after all ! Certainly one to keep an eye on.

I‘ve just added an option to the sidebar to make the site a little more internationally friendy. Now you can translate the site into your own language. I’ve just tried Japanese, and whilst I’ve no idea if it works properly, it look good !
I‘ve just added Digg functionality to the blog, so PLEASE get digging.
